A crowd silhouetted against golden fireworks filling the night sky

Victoria Park · ten minutes from the house

Fireworks,
set to music

The British Musical Fireworks Championship lights up Southport every September. Watch the sky dance, then be home in the hot tub before the smoke clears.

Two nights of light

A great place to stay for the Musical Fireworks

Warren House is a luxury holiday home for up to fourteen, about ten minutes from Victoria Park. This is an evening event, which is exactly why a house nearby wins: no long drive home with sleepy children, no city hotel corridors at 10pm. The finale fades, and minutes later the kids are in bed, the kettle and the wine are on, and the grown-ups are replaying the best sequences from the hot tub. Birthdays and anniversaries love this weekend.

The lie of the land

Four miles along the coast. Near enough that the bangs reach the garden; near enough, more usefully, that your beds are ten minutes from the finale.

Getting to the fireworks from Warren House

🚕 the easy answer

Taxi there and back

Ten minutes each way, nobody drives, and the driver drops you close to the gates. Book the return for just after the finale and you beat the car-park queues entirely.

With a big group, a pre-booked minibus does the whole house in one run.

🚗 about 10 min

Car

Four miles up the coast road with event parking near the park. Evening traffic in is gentle; expect a slow first half-mile out after the finale.

The upside of driving: blankets, flasks and folding chairs carry themselves.

🚆 train + stroll

Merseyrail

A 20 minute walk to Ainsdale station, or a quick bus, taxi or car journey, then Southport in under ten minutes and a ten to fifteen minute walk to the park. The walk back through town, sky still ringing, is rather lovely.

Check last-train times for the Sunday night and plan the return leg before you set out.

What awaits

The UK's champion firework makers, head to head

This is not a bonfire-night display; it is the national championship of pyromusicals. Six of Britain's best fireworks companies compete across the weekend, three each night, every burst choreographed to the beat of its own soundtrack. One minute the sky is a ballroom, the next it is a rock concert. Families spread blankets, couples bring fizz, and the crowd votes with gasps. It is one of the most joyful evenings in Southport's calendar, and it ends early enough for small people to see it all.

"From the well lit driveway to the incredible bar space, we were so blown over by the small touches that made the stay special. We all said we didn't want to tell anyone about this gem of a house."

After the finale

Warren House is magical at night too

The house was made for evenings like these. Come home to warm lighting in the trees, steam rising off the hot tub, and the private bar open for as long as the conversation runs. Children asleep upstairs minutes after the last rocket; grown-ups toasting the winning display under the stars. If the fireworks are the show, this is the encore.
