The big bank holiday weekend

A great place to stay for the Southport Air Show

Warren House is a luxury holiday home for up to fourteen, about ten minutes from the seafront display line. Bring the kids, the cousins and the grandparents: pancake breakfasts before gates open, deckchairs on the sands as the Red Arrows arrive, and a garden, games room and hot tub waiting when little necks are tired of craning. It is the north-west's biggest air show, on the best family weekend of the summer.

The lie of the land

Warren House and the seafront, on the map

Four miles of coast between your front door and the display line, and the same aircraft overhead all the way. Some of the best free viewing is the stretch of beach in between.

Show day

Getting to the Air Show from Warren House

🚗 about 10 min

Car or taxi

Four miles up the coast road. On show days the seafront gets busy, so go early, use the event parking, or have a taxi drop the family close to the gates.

Coming home is the easy part: ten minutes and the kettle is on.

🚆 train + stroll

Merseyrail

Ainsdale station is a 20 minute walk from the house, or a quick bus, taxi or car journey; Southport is under ten minutes up the line, and the promenade a short walk from the station. No parking stress on the busiest weekend of the year.

Extra-lively trains home are part of the occasion.

🏖 the smart plan

Watch from the sands

The flying fills the sky along the whole coast. Do one day in the ticketed arena for the commentary and ground displays, then watch day two from the beach with a picnic, Ainsdale's sands included.

Binoculars, windbreak, flask. Bliss.

What awaits

The Red Arrows, over the beach

Southport's is the biggest air show in the north-west, flown over a vast stretch of sand with the whole resort watching. The 2026 programme is headlined by the Red Arrows, with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's Spitfire, Hurricane and Dakota, a Eurofighter Typhoon tearing along the shore on the Sunday, historic warbirds and aerobatic teams trailing smoke between them. On the ground there are static aircraft, military villages and enough to keep every age busy between displays.

"We had a perfect family holiday at Warren House. Everything was beautiful, modern and finished to a high standard. The hot tub, bar area and gardens were a highlight of our stay."

After the flypast

The family HQ, ten minutes away

Air show days are big days for small people. Back at Warren House the kids pile into the games room with the PS5 and mini pool table, the grown-ups claim the hot tub, and the evening lands softly with a movie on the big screen. Six bedrooms and space for up to fourteen mean the cousins and grandparents come too.
