Ride from the door
Cyclists are spoiled here. National Cycle Network Route 62, the Trans Pennine Trail, passes the park entrance, giving you traffic-free miles the moment you clip in, with the flat, fast lanes of the Sefton coast all around.
Route 62 / Trans Pennine Trail
NCN Route 62 starts on this coast at Southport and runs clear across the country. Ride its western, largely traffic-free miles, including the old Cheshire Lines railway path inland towards Aintree.
Back at base
Wash the bikes down, dry the kit in the boot room, refuel at the big oak table and debrief in the bar. The gates keep everything safe behind you.
Two Grands Departs, one house between them
In 2027 both the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes start in Britain, and Warren House sits between the two finishes that matter. On Saturday 3 July the men's peloton races down from Keswick to a super sprint along Liverpool's waterfront, about thirty five minutes from our gates. Four weeks later the women's race opens in Leeds and finishes on Deansgate in Manchester, about an hour away. Sleep fourteen under one roof, ride the coast in the morning, watch the race in the afternoon, and talk about it in your own bar until whenever you like.
Friday 2 to Sunday 4 July 2027
The Grand Depart leaves Edinburgh on Friday 2 July, the first time the Tour de France has ever visited Scotland. The stage that belongs to us is the second one: two hundred and twenty three kilometres from Keswick, down beside Thirlmere, Grasmere and Windermere, along the edge of Morecambe Bay, over five categorised climbs on the fringe of the Pennines, then through Lancashire and the boroughs of St Helens and Knowsley for a flat out sprint finish on The Strand in Liverpool.

Fancy watching the road rather than the finish line? The route crosses Lancashire before it reaches the city, so a short drive inland puts you on a climb with room to breathe, and you are back at the house before the podium is packed away.
Looking at the men's weekend and finding it taken?
The first weekend of July books early, for obvious reasons. The women's Grand Depart weekend at the end of the month is the other half of the same story, and it is often the easier one to get. Same house, same bar, a Manchester finish instead of a Liverpool one.

The Tour de France Femmes has never started outside France and mainland Europe before, and in 2027 it opens in Yorkshire. Stage 1 runs from Leeds to a city centre finish on Deansgate in Manchester on Friday 30 July. Stage 2 turns back east from Manchester to Sheffield with close to three thousand metres of climbing in it. Stage 3 is a first in the race's history: a team time trial looping through central London.

Two days of racing within an hour of the house, a Friday finish and a Saturday start, both in the same city. It makes a genuinely easy long weekend: no moving hotels, no early flights, and a coast to ride on the Sunday if the legs are willing.

Ainsdale station is five minutes away by car or taxi, and the Merseyrail Southport line runs straight into the city centre. On a stage day the train beats the road closures comfortably, and nobody has to think about parking or driving home.
Trains from Liverpool Lime Street reach Manchester in around fifty minutes, and Deansgate sits in the middle of it all. By car it is roughly an hour, though on a stage weekend the train is the calmer choice.
Stage 2 begins in Keswick. If you would rather see the roll out than the sprint, it is a straightforward run up the M6, and the whole road down through the Lakes is lined with places to stand.
While you are here
The Tour is the excuse, but the riding on this stretch of coast is the reason people come back. Flat lanes through the pinewoods, the long promenade at Southport, the dunes at Ainsdale and Formby, and the Trans Pennine Trail running east if you want to earn your dinner. There is room at the house for the bikes, a boot room for wet kit, and a hot tub for afterwards.
